Shakespeare at School
The Folger Shakespeare Library
George Didden Memorial Project
In 2008 the Foundation partnered with National Capital Bank and the Folger Shakespeare Library to launch an ambitious program — "Shakespeare At School: The Folger Shakespeare Library George Didden Memorial Project."
Since its inception, nearly every Capitol Hill elementary and middle school has been involved. Each year, participating classrooms are immersed in a year-long introduction to Shakespeare and the world of the Theater.
In the Spring, classrooms contribute to the Didden Shakespeare Festival, performing their own interpretations of Shakespeare's works on the stage of the Folger.
Shakespeare at School is fully funded by the Foundation, with underwriting by the National Capital Bank of Washington. This project was inspired by the life of George Didden III, esteemed founding board member of the Foundation, business leader, and lifelong supporter of the theater and education.
