Community Outreach with A Wider Circle

  • A Wider Circle 9159 Brookville Road, #C Silver Spring, MD 20910 (map)

Our mission is to help one individual and one family after another to rise out of poverty.  Our holistic approach focuses on the creation of stable homes, workforce development, wraparound support, and neighborhood revitalization.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved with. We have opportunities 7 days a week, and 365 days of the year. Volunteer to take an active step in the movement to end poverty by joining us in any of the following roles. Below are a few of the many ways that you can become a part of our volunteer team!

Help to Furnish Homes
Help sort and stock donations, large and small, to help A Wider Circle furnish 20 homes per day.

Partnership to Independence (P2I)
P2I is an intensive five-year commitment for families living below the poverty line. Each family is matched with a Wider Circle staff member and individual volunteers, who together provide comprehensive, consistent, and long-term support.

Truck Team
Join our truck team and pick up donations for the Essential Support Program throughout the region! Truck team volunteers must be at least 18 years old, strong enough to carry half of a sleeper sofa, and able to commit to a full day of volunteering!

Administrative Position
Use your administrative skills to advance this work by either assisting with data entry/management or telephone support.

Essential Support Program Leader Volunteer
Assist with leading volunteer groups on tours and providing orientations or acting as a representative of A Wider Circle at events.

Personal Shopper
Assist clients shopping for interview and work-appropriate clothing. Help shoppers find their correct sizes and put together outfits.

Locations: These activities take place at our Center for Community Service, located at 9159 Brookville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Basic need items, workforce development programming, and long-term support are also offered in our Neighborhood Partnerships location at Highland Dwellings and Additions in Washington, DC. We are seeking volunteers for these programs at our center there, as well.
