DC Central Kitchen--Prepare Meals for Those in Need

The DC Central Kitchen uses food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities.

Volunteer Opportunities
We offer several different volunteer opportunities at two separate locations.

Main Kitchen, 425 2nd Street NW -- metro accessible, located about a block from Judiciary Square on the red line; we are not able to offer parking at the Main Kitchen.

Our Main Kitchen offers the most opportunities and can accommodate larger groups. We have three shifts available there:

  • Morning Meal Prep: 9 AM-12 PM (Holds 40 People) Monday-Sunday,
  • Afternoon Meal Prep: 1 PM-4 PM (Holds 25 people) Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays.
  • Evening Meal Prep: 5PM-8PM (Holds 30 People) Monday-Friday.

Nutrition Lab, 2625 Evarts Street NE -- not metro accessible; street parking is available, though very limited and only on Franklin Street NE, about 1-1/2 blocks from our building.

Shifts are smaller there, but run from 1pm-4pm Monday-Friday accommodating up to 10 people.

Contact:  You can schedule volunteer shifts by signing up through our Online Volunteer Calendar. (www.dccentralkitchen.org/register/.) The calendar operates in 3 month increments. Our calendar does fill quickly, so planning a month or two in advance is generally best.
